Hartlepool based Jamie Ainslie’s duo releases, Ready for This and Hundred Miles

The songs have a very retro jangle vibe and remind one of a simpler time when all you had to worry about was hanging out with your friends at a festival, laughing with a drink in your hand. The tracks are full of energy and quite frankly are a breath of fresh air in a world that’s slowly going insane.

Former front man of the band Aces & Sinners, Jamie continues his musical venture with a departure from alternative-punk and has shifted towards a somewhat indie rock/acoustic core with a collection of songs influenced by eminent artists such as Oasis and Frank Turner. Jamie Ainslie’s voice is reminiscent of Billie Joe Armstrong, but more importantly, Jamie doesn’t merely emulate his heroes – he makes each song entirely his own, keeping the integrity of each intact while spinning them all through his own jammy and jovial punk-y lens.

Speaking about the new release, Jamie says, “‘Ready For This’ and ‘Hundred Miles” are both about facing the unknown. The simple premise of making significant life decisions and how it would affect you and those that are closest to you. On the surface it could be for the right reasons but there is the whole element of doubt that could scare you, so I guess it’s about the early stages of adapting. They are both more rock orientated than my last release, have a similar core in the sense of how they had been written and recorded before lockdown. Owing  of the delays and their similar backgrounds, it only made sense to pair them.”

Prior to “Ready For This/Hundred Miles”, Jamie’s solo release was “Recover” in March 2020, a departure from his previous releases through the Aces & Sinners EP’s Feel the Fire (2015) and Aces & Sinners (2016) respectively. The power trio’s achievements include BBC Introducing airplay, finishing runners-up at the Soundwave Music composition in 2015 and performing for JAR Music Live’s “Ones to Watch” showcases, both of which took place at Newcastle’s 02 Academy.
