Traumatized Lover is a project that focuses on overcoming past relationship traumas. It’s a body of work that depicts the various stages of that relationship, from falling in love to falling out of love due to the person’s true colors being shown. Many of us underestimate the hurt that we may experience when someone has wronged us, believing that we can instantly move on without first putting in the work to heal. This initiative exemplifies that degree of openness, demonstrating that the acts of others may, in fact, remain with you if left unresolved. Although you may reach a point in your life where you may recover from these experiences, you never forget what happened to you; instead, you become a traumatized lover who is continuously learning how to work through the pain to love the next person.
What genres/artists is Traumatized Lover influenced by?
The project isn’t really influenced by any specific artists but it is heavily driven based on R&B
What’s your songwriting process like?
I come up with melodies first, I lay that down then I begin to put words to it. Sometimes I can hear a melody for the hook first or I can hear a melody for the verse it just depends on the beat.
Tell us about your musical journey? Is your family musical?
I started making music at 15 years old, surprisingly my family isn’t too musical aside from my brother who has an amazing voice. In addition to that my sister’s husband was one of the first people to put me inside of a studio which ultimately started my music career as a R&B artists.
Where do you take inspiration from for making music?
A lot of R&B artists such as Summer Walker, Ella Mai, Kiana Lede etc
Tell us about the experience of making your new EP. Could you please elaborate on why you chose to write about Pain and Heartbreak?
I just realized that I had a lot of self reflecting to do in regards to my past and put that all Into my music because it helped me heal and become a better person.
Could you tell us about your aspirations as a musician? What are your musical plans for say the next 6 months?
My main goal is to release and make music consistently, I would love to go on tour soon as an opener and grow my fanbase from there but I’m really focused on being present and showing up for myself as a creative.
