Sweet Coins drop indie-rock classic tune, “Worth It”

Sweet Coins are a couple of good pals making music. They have just this Friday revealed their bold and anthemic new single, “Worth It”. Right from the off the single is raw and direct with vocals that hook you in, combine that with driving guitar riffs and thick basslines compliment the vocalist’s tones and you’ve got an Indie-Rock classic on your hands.

The new cut is their fourth single release ever and is a perfect introduction to the band if you’re unfamiliar with their work. The band comprises Louis Forsyth on the Lead Guitar, Micky on rhythm guitar, Sophie Radley on drums, Derian Lauer on the Bass, with  Tommy Coyne as the vocalist.

“Worth It” also has a driving drumbeat that also helps to ensure that your foot is stomping right until the last beat of the song is played. It’s easy to imagine this song being jumped, moshed, and partied to in sweaty music venues – it’s got that sort of underground indie-rock vibe while keeping a fresh and bright tone throughout.

How and where did you get together?

Most of us got together at University and we formed the band from there! Tommy, Micky and Derian met back in 2016 around the Cambridgeshire area then they all moved down to Hertfordshire for University or moved there regardless. We met Louis and Sophie along the way and became the loveable band we are today!

What are the band’s main influences?

You Me At Six, Neck Deep, State Champs, Waterparks, Nothing But Thieves, Enter Shikari and Holding Absence

Have you played any notable gigs, festivals or other events? Likewise radio or TV appearances?

Not as of yet but we’re manifesting the good vibes this year to eventually play some big shows!

Is there a particular ethos behind the single/EP/album or any particular music styles or events that inspired it?

It all started back in 2019 where Louis prompted some lyrics to Tommy which was the main hook for this song. They then went on to finish the song and re-recorded the track countless times just to get it perfect! It’s also the first song that was written for the band but we loved it so much we had to professionally get it recorded.

Can you briefly describe what the song is about?

There’s multiple versions and we’d all say the song is about different things really, Tommy originally wrote the song about Scott Pilgrim’s experience with Ramona Flowers (since he basically adores that movie) yet Micky says its just a Feel good song with good energy about falling in love with a dangerous girl.

Are there any other interesting or amusing happenings – no matter how small – that the band have been involved with that would be of interest to those who like your music?

We’ve started to record a Music video for this track. It involves some funny cameos and integrates our personalities into one. Other than that we’re just working constantly on more tracks.

Where was the single/EP/album recorded and who was involved in its production?

The track itself was Recorded in Sheffield in a place called “Farm Factory Studios” the same place where bands such as Bring Me The Horizon, Blink 182 and Sleeping With Sirens have recorded. After that it was sent off to Grant Berry for Mastering.
